Savoury N Nutty Semolina Cake

Cooking is always therapeutic and when you try some new recipe and it comes out good…it makes you very happy. This week we are here back with Blog Hopping and it has been so much fun till now,  I am paired with Jyothi of  Pages and i am glad that i discovered her blog. She not only tries to post recipes but has posted many book reviews as well. I am a huge reader and love reading books so it was great to read some reviews on her blog.

This is a very healthy recipe and loved the taste of it. The taste is very similar to Haandvo and is best eaten  when fresh out of the oven. I had seen this recipe some months back on Anjum Anand Tv show and wanted to prepare it from that time but had forgotten to make a note of the recipe. These Savoury Semolina Slices taste great and with the addition of ground almonds it imparts a very nutty flavor as well. A great snack option which is packed with veggies.

Ready to go into the oven.

This Post will fulfill two ongoing events, one is Blog Hopping and the 2nd is for Magic Mingle where this months magic  ingredients are “Ginger And Almonds” So i tweaked the recipe to a bit so that i can add Almonds and ginger to it as well.

Spinach and Baby Corn Soup And Tarla Dalal’s Food Demo

In Mysore we don’t have many celebrity food shows organised so when Tarla Dalal visited Mysore for a Food Charity show, I jumped in to get the tickets and attend it. I remember ages ago she used to host a cookery show on a TV Channel and i used to follow it very regularly, then after the internet came i became a regular visitor of her site.

The Show was organised here last Monday and it was nice to finally see her in person. As i have not attended any food shows earlier, i had gone with a lot of expectation, I thought it will be a very interactive session where in we can ask her some of our questions…….but it was nothing like that. She cooked some of her signature recipes and the recipes were good. I was not able sit through the whole show as I had to come home early.

The same evening I did try 2 of her recipes one was the Spinach and Baby corn Soup and the second was a stuffed enchiladas . The soup was nice and good for a cold day. Overall it was a good experience and hope that many such demo’s happen in Mysore as well.

(I know Soup are supposed to be served in a bowl but i always have soup in a  cup)

Now coming to the recipe below

Spinach and baby Corn Soup

Recipe From Tarla Dalal

Ingredients

Butter tbsp

1/4 Finely Chopped Onions

12 Small babycorns thinly sliced

3 Cup Finely Chopped Spinach

1 1/2 Cup Milk mixed with 1 1/2 cup of water

1 1/2 tbsp cornflour dissolved in 2 tbsp water

Salt to taste

Pepper to taste

1 Slice Cheese (Optional)

Method

Heat Butter in a pan and add onions , saute till it translucent

Add the bay corn and spinach and saute on a medium flame for 2-3 mins

Add the milk + water mix and bring to a boil.

Add the cornflour mix , salt, pepper and cook again for 3-4 mins while stirring continuously.

Remove from flame and blend using a hand blender till smooth.

Bring to boil again and if u want to add cheese u can add at it at this stage, give a boil and serve hot.

Note:

I followed the same recipe but halved the ingredients and added a cheese slice which was not mentioned in the original recipe.

I also added a Tbsp of Italian seasoning to the soup.

We had the soup with a Sandwich which i will be sharing with u all in a  future post
