Moong Dal Parathas

I love parathas and they make for a wholesome lunch accompanied by a bowl of curds or even with a dash of pickle. Different stuffing’s can be  used to make a parathas and today i am going to share moong dal parathas. Moong dal is boiled and sauteed in mild spices and stuffed to prepare crispy parathas.

Moong Dal Parathas

Ingredients

For Dough

Wholewheat flour 1 cup

Oil 1 tsp

Salt

water

Moong Dal Stuffing

1/2 cup moong dal

Oil 1/2 tbsp

Jeera 1/2 tsp

Saunf 1/4 tsp

Haldi 1/4 tsp

R.chilli Powder 1/2 tsp

Dhaniya Powder 1/4 tsp

Amchoor Powder 1/4 tsp

Salt

Coriander leaves

Method

Prepare Dough:

Mix Flour,Salt,Oil in a bowl. Add requiered water and prepare a smooth dough. Rest for 30 mins.

Prepare Stuffing:

Wash moong dal in running water and boil the dal for 10-15  mins till it is almost cooked but not completely mushy. Drain the excess water and keep aside.

Heat oil in a pan,  add jeera and saunf and add all the masalas and give it a stir so the masalas get cooked.

Then add boiled moong dal, salt,amchoor powder and mix nicely and cook for further 2-3 mins till it is completley dry.

Add corinader leaves and let the mixture cool.Divide the stuffing in 5 parts

Prepare parathas

Make 5 lemon sized balls of the dough and keep ready.

Take a ball and slightly flatten it with your hand, place 1 part of the stuffing in the centre and bring the dough togeather from all sides so that the stuffing is completely covered.

Roll the parathas by applying little flour and dont make them very thin.

Heat a tawa and when hot place the paratha and let cook slighlty on one side.

Then flip over and slightly cook the other side as well.

Spread oil on both the sides of the parathas and roast them nicely till crisp.

Serve hot.

Note.

Addition of g.chilli can be done for a spicier version.

U can replace moong dal with chana dal and follow the same procedure.
