A Diary of my kitchen experiments and sometimes about just life in general :)
I love parathas and they make for a wholesome lunch accompanied by a bowl of curds or even with a dash of pickle. Different stuffing’s can be used to make a parathas and today i am going to share moong dal parathas. Moong dal is boiled and sauteed in mild spices and stuffed to prepare crispy parathas.
Moong Dal Parathas
Wholewheat flour 1 cup
Oil 1 tsp
Moong Dal Stuffing
1/2 cup moong dal
Oil 1/2 tbsp
Jeera 1/2 tsp
Saunf 1/4 tsp
Haldi 1/4 tsp
R.chilli Powder 1/2 tsp
Dhaniya Powder 1/4 tsp
Amchoor Powder 1/4 tsp
Mix Flour,Salt,Oil in a bowl. Add requiered water and prepare a smooth dough. Rest for 30 mins.
Wash moong dal in running water and boil the dal for 10-15 mins till it is almost cooked but not completely mushy. Drain the excess water and keep aside.
Heat oil in a pan, add jeera and saunf and add all the masalas and give it a stir so the masalas get cooked.
Then add boiled moong dal, salt, amchoor powder and mix nicely and cook for further 2-3 mins till it is completley dry.
Add corinader leaves and let the mixture cool.Divide the stuffing in 5 parts
Make 5 lemon sized balls of the dough and keep ready.
Take a ball and slightly flatten it with your hand, place 1 part of the stuffing in the centre and bring the dough togeather from all sides so that the stuffing is completely covered.
Roll the parathas by applying little flour and dont make them very thin.
Heat a tawa and when hot place the paratha and let cook slighlty on one side.
Then flip over and slightly cook the other side as well.
Spread oil on both the sides of the parathas and roast them nicely till crisp.
Addition of g.chilli can be done for a spicier version.
U can replace moong dal with chana dal and follow the same procedure.
